Bosnia Herzegovina

Bosnia Herzegovina

During my documentary in the Balkans, we also came to Bosnia Herzegovina. I was very surprised by the beauty of the country. Bosnia Herzegovina used to be part of Yugoslavia, but is now an independent country.

Mostar and Lukomir in particular left a huge impression on me. When you walk through Mostar and see the Sniper Tower, and consider all the bullet holes in the walls of houses, you see silent witnesses of a senseless war.

In Mostar you will find the iconic Stari Most (Old Bridge), which has become the symbol of this city. It is a reminder of post-conflict division and reconstruction. The view from the bridge over the Neretva River is breathtaking.

Lukomir, on the other hand, offers an entirely different experience. This remote village high in the mountains is a true gem. The traditional houses with their characteristic wooden roofs are beautiful to see. Here it seems as if time has stood still.

The natural beauty of Bosnia Herzegovina is breathtaking. The country has spectacular scenery with mountains, lakes and rivers. A visit to Sutjeska National Park is not to be missed. Here you will find the country’s highest mountain, the Maglić, and the impressive Perućica Canyon.

Bosnia Herzegovina also has a rich culture and history. Sarajevo, the capital, is a melting pot of different cultures and religions. You will find beautiful mosques, churches and synagogues close together. Vibrant markets and fragrant cuisine make it a great destination for lovers of culinary adventure.

If you are interested in history, a visit to the Tunnel Museum is not to be missed. This tunnel was a lifeline for the city during the siege of Sarajevo in the 1990s and symbolizes the resilience of the Bosnian people.

All in all, Bosnia Herzegovina has much to offer travelers seeking natural beauty, history and cultural diversity. My photos can only show a glimpse of the splendor this country has to offer. I highly recommend you to visit Bosnia Herzegovina yourself and experience this unforgettable destination with your own eyes.

Discover the beauty of Bosnia Herzegovina and be amazed by this hidden gem in the Balkans!
